Story Behind the Art

The empty tomb is the greatest symbol of hope the world has ever known. “Eternal Life,” inspired by Matthew 28:6-7 show the quiet, yet earth-shattering moment when the stone was rolled away, revealing that death had been conquered. The soft morning light, fresh spring flowers, and open tomb testify of Christ’s resurrection and the promise that because He lives, we will live again.

One of my favorite things about this piece is the way the light fills the scene, illuminating the emptiness of the tomb—not with loss, but with joy. It represents the peace and assurance that comes from knowing our Redeemer has overcome death. LIke the angel who declared the good news to the women at the tomb, we can rejoice in the knowledge that Christ’s victory means we can return to our Heavenly Father and be reunited with our loved ones.

As I created this piece, I considered how often we need symbols of the Savior’s triumph in our daily lives. Life’s challenges can feel like heavy stones blocking our way, but Christ has the power to move them. He encourages us, lIke the women that morning, to witness His glory and carry His message forward.
